About Shawn

Shawn loves to dance, write and listen to music.  Her favorite pastime is to take long walks in the park or on the beach.  Shawn started writing short stories and poems when she was 11 years old.  Writing help Shawn find her voice at an early age.  She continued writing throughout her school years and was first published as a poet in the Omaha Public School System.  Her first book was entitled, “Black Poetry In Writing”. 

Shawn decided to attend college and pursue her degree in Journalism.  After majoring in Mass Communications with a minor in Mass Communications from Clark/Atlanta University, Shawn moved to New York City and continued writing and creating projects that incorporated her love of music, dance and poetry.  She created “Bold Words, Brave Movements, a group of poets, dancers and musicians that performed her poetry and toured the City of New York. 

Shawn fell into acting after taking acting classes throughout the city to support her spoken word writing and she never looked back.  She has been acting and writing plays; two of which have been produced Off-Off Broadway: “Through the Fire” (Creative Acting Co.) and “Raw Love” (Theatre for the New City).   Her third play which was a One-Women Show “My Private Revolution” was produced Off Broadway at the Davenport Theatre in Times Square and was selected to participate in the Emerging Artist Festival in New York.   Shawn has also had guest starring roles on Law and Order CI, Law and Order SVU, The Following and As The World Turns. 

She is happily married to Laurrell Bradley and they reside in Manhattan, New York.
